Student Officer Job Descriptions
Student officer positions are voluntary, part-time, and open to all students who will be studying during their term of office.
Key skills and qualities for these roles include:

Key Student Officer responsibilities

Represent students |
Ø Attend monthly meetings of the Officers Committee |

Special Project |
Ø Organise projects, events or similar activities during the course of the year |
|
Support UBSU |
Ø Work voluntarily for UBSU, contributing (on average) six hours per week during term-time |
Support offered by UBSU to Student Officers
|
Ø Pairing with a Sabbatical Officer and/or member of UBSU staff to offer mentoring, support and advice as necessary |

Campaigns Officer |
Help run campaigns that currently affect the student body Ø Support UBSU awareness initiatives |

Disability Officer |
Represent students with a seen and/or unseen disability Ø Represent the views and needs of disabled students to UBSU and the University |

Entertainments Officer |
Organise a diverse range of events for students Ø Contribute to the development different forms of entertainment that the SU can provide |

EU Students’ Officer |
Represent the growing number of EU students and encourage engagement with UBSU Ø Represent the needs of EU students to UBSU and the University |
|
International Students’ Officer |
Represent the growing number of international students and encourage engagement with UBSU Ø Represent the needs of international students to UBSU and the University |

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual (LGBT) Officer |
Look after and promote the interest of lesbian, gay bisexual and transsexual students Ø Represent the views of LGBT students to UBSU and the University |

Mature Students’ Officer |
Ensure mature students are represented within UBSU and the University Ø Represent the views of mature students to UBSU and the University Please note that candidates must be 25 at the start of the elections |

Minority Students’ Officer |
Ensure minority ethnic groups are represented within UBSU and the University Ø Contribute to the review and development of UBSU’s equal opportunities policy |

Newspaper Editor |
Edit UBSU’s Newspaper and ensure diverse student participation in its production Ø Organise student contribution to the UBSU paper |

Raise and Give (RAG) Officer |
Promote Raise and Give activities amongst the student body Ø Help organise and promote RaG events throughout the year |
|
Sports Officer |
Support the development of sport at the University Ø Support the promotion of sport especially those outside the BUSA league |
|
Women’s Officer |
Ensure women are represented within UBSU and the University Ø Represent the views of women to UBSU and the University |
