 Progress reports

Action Taken 2008-09

A meeting has taken place with Peter Dean (Principal Teaching Fellow) regarding media facilities. More problems were raised at the SRC and students are willing to get involved. Peter Dean is supportive, but has his hands tied.

The shuttle bus was raised at Bedford CMG and is being looked into alongside library hours.

Butterfield and Aylesbury sites were discussed. There are various options for UBSU to develop at these sites, but we need to know what the students involved actually want.

Peter Dean is to meet with students to discuss the media problems.

Hub hours in the hub at Bedford are to be extended to the maximum possible.

Library opening hours cannot be changed this academic year, but a paper will go to the University from Tim Stone with proposals for both longer hours and 24 hour opening, with shuttle bus changes in line.

Peter Dean has now produced a University-backed action plan, that includes named people to undertake actions to improve the situation for students. This is seen as a good result, but will require monitoring to ensure that the actions are fulfilled.

UBSU has had input into an LRC paper on the extending of Library hours next year.

There has been further increase in hub opening times in the early mornings.

UBSU is still lobbying on issues around Butterfield. Catering is emerging as an additional problem.
